Many foot
problems such as heel pain (eg.plantar fasciitis ), pain in the ball of the
foot (metatarsalgia) and general arch pain can be caused by problems with the foot
structure. Ankle, knee and low back pain can also be caused by mechanical foot problems. A
thorough biomechanical assessment can help determine the source of your pain and how to
treat it.
Dr Walsh is a Certified Pedorthist Cped(c) along with his degree in kinesiology allows him
to specialize in the biomechanics of the foot.
The unique balance between how our feet
propel us through the gait cycle and how minor imbalances can affect our knees, hip, spine
and even cause headaches is important to understand and treat.
Our process combines a computerized gait
analysis, a complete history and physical examination, combined with custom molds of the
feet resulting in a thorough 3-dimensional, functional diagnosis of foot and gait
problems.
Pedorthists are individuals trained in the
assessment of the foot and lower limb and the design, manufacture, fit and modification of
foot orthotics and footwear for the purposes of alleviating painful or debilitating
conditions and providing assistance for abnormalities or limited actions of the lower
limb. For more information on Pedorthics go to:
